Proverbs 5

Wow this chapter really portrayed with vivid language the reality and the importance to steer clear of adultery. I think its amazing the words God uses to describe just how tempting adultery can be. Then turn around and use equally as vivid wording and show how void or even bad you could feel as a result of falling into temptation. Our culture says that it is okay to do whatever and some people believe that everything other than sex is okay or acceptable. But when we look at God's word, it tells us in verse 8: "Keep to a path far from her, do not go near the door of her house," We are called to come nowhere close to sexual impurity! How are we doing with purity are we following God's higher standard or settling and accepting the world's excuses?

In a world dominated by temptation its nearly impossible to be nowhere close to sexual impurity. Proverbs 5 says to stay away from the temptations of adultery. It tells how if you fall into temptation, its hard to get out of it and that it could ruin your entire life. Proverbs 5 uses really strong words to describe the consequences of adultery. Yet at the same time it tells the beauty and pleasure of being with one person. It ends with a fair warning that you are in full view of the Lord. In a world where temptation has become too great to fight the world gives in and says some things are okay. It takes true strength to resist the temptations of the world.

Everyday we are faced with temptations that seem harmless and perfectly fine but are really evil in gods eyes. We shouldnt put ourselves or set ourselves up in a situation that will have great temptation which will be to hard to overcome. In Provebs 5 it says there is great discipline and consequences for adultry so that a person will realize how foolish they were and regret it. Although the temptations of adultry may seem very pleasurable and attractive, they are very wicked and sinful. We need to stay focused on gods path to avoid the temptations of the world.

Hey, Pastor Nick.

This is Pastor Daron. I am really looking forward to speaking on Sunday. I read Proverbs 5 today and I love the challenge to rejoice in the wife of your youth. I love my wife! I need to always be exhilerated with her love. I love my wife!! I praise God for His truth to help me keep my focus. In this sex-crazed world, remaining faithful is a challenge. But God gives us instruction for every guy (married or not). May God use His word to live life to its fullest and to enjoy marriage. I do!

chapter five is all about what can happen if you fall into the temptation. and it tells us to stand clear of it. to go "no where near her neighborhood." its tough when all your friends are saying how sweet something can be or how fun it is to just go out and not care what you do. that no one is going to find out. i know from first hand that its hard to say no to a temptation.
and i know that if people do that on a daily basis, their life is going to go know where. they are hopeless people, and we need to go out and totally save them from what they are doing, and how they are living. it is a task that is so big and probably impossible to do for everyone, but at philly, one thing i learned is that you can sooo make a difference in at least one persons life, and that there is a start.
