Proverbs 12
There are two points with the chapter where it mentions that the wise are people who listen to correction. Pro. 12:1 states: "Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid." Then in 12:15 the text also states "The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice." Correction is a method in which God uses to grab our attention and to speak to us. The hard thing is that we naturally get defensive when it comes to correction or advice. So the question is are we missing God speak because we are unable to listen to advise or correction from someone in our lives?

Im being seriously honest when I say I really appreciate being corrected. Every time somebody corrects me I am extremely thankful to them for helping me see my error. I seriously do not get defensive unless its about something I really think I know, and even that is rare. I am the type of person who is completely open to correction and direction in every part of my life. Every chance I get to listen to someone teach me somthing I really do cherish it and try hard to understand. A good example of this are my grandparents. There is no one else I have more respect for then them. They have sacrficed everything in their lives so that my family and I could grow up with this happiness in God. They gave up their lives for my dad and his brothers to get an education here in America after the war. And every time I get the chance to listen to their stories, I forget the world and listen to their teachings. My grandparents have shown me God throughout my childhood, and I KNOW that God speaks through them every time I sit down with them. I know this because I really find connections to the Bible through the words they speak!!
man, Norris, I wish I was like you. It is not natural for me to embrace being corrected. But through God's power in my life and my yielding to His control I've grown to be open to it and learn how valuable it is in making me fully devoted to Christ.
This chapter was the easiest for me to understand. I get defensive a lot when my parents correct me. I've tried to stop defending myself and I'm getting better at that. I should just listen to what my parents are saying cause they are older and know more than I do.
