Proverbs 16

This chapter reiterates most of the lessons that have been talking about in the earlier chapters. This isn't just for the sake of repeating but to remind us of each one, and show how important they are. However verse 20 really stuck out, it states: "Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is he who trusts in the LORD." The key thing about this verse is it implies action, us taking heed (or following), the instructions that we have been given. So the question for today is how are we doing at applying the wise truths of proverbs to our lives? Are we taking heed and applying these thing to our lives, or are we stopping at the reading level?

I think some people just say they're reading the proverbs but they don't actually read it. They just read through a chapter and don't think about what they're reading. If we follow these proverbs, we will be wise is what i think verse 20 is saying.

It seems like now when I read each Proverb, I can sense a pattern...the same overall message being taught. Each Proverb I read, I gain more understanding of what the message Proverbs is trying to get across. Because of that, I am able to remember what I read, and think about it so many times throughout the day. Its not like I walk around every second thinking it, but that I am trying to understand it and connect it with my choices. Some people may think that I'm crazy for being able to do that, but that is what God wants and that is what makes us wise. That is how we are able to avoid the evil that persuades us.
When I read Proverbs, I re-read each verse every time I read it. The first time is to know what it says, then the second is to break it down and connect it with the world. In other words, decipher the meaning. I do this all the time and it really helps me understand the Bible better. Some verses that stuck out to me in Proverbs 16 are 16, 18, and 23.
