Proverbs 19

19:21 "Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails." I think that this verse is so hard to wrap our minds around. We all set up or make plans within our lives. Maybe it is what you want to do with your future, goals that you might have for a new year, or even everyday plans to do homework or to hang out with friends. Well even in the midst of all the plans that we come up with in our own minds, God's purpose, or what he wants accomplished, is still going to prevail. And even though we do everything by choice, God uses our choices to accomplish His purpose. This is incredible to me! So what is one area where you have seen God work through yours plans or through the changing of your plans?

I have seen God working with my plans recently. For english class last year we were to write a paper about a career in which we would like to study. I choose dermatology, but after studying this profession i came upon all the hardships that goes along with it- the difficulty to get into medical school, the long hard hours you must put in once you get into medical school, and the money and time it takes to actually get the degree. I started becoming uncertain about what i was to do with my life but God showed me the way. He put not one but two people in my life in the past month who spoke with me about medical school and encouraged me to pursue my dreams. He even had my mom walk into Longhorm to come across my now boss- a PhD at the OARDC- who has given me an oppertunity to do my own scientific research project. As I sit back and look at the events, i know it is not coincidence and that God really has a plan for me
Jer 29:11 "For i know the plans i have for you declares the Lord plans to prospere you and not harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future"
Well now that i have slightly got off topic and shared a large chunk of what God has been doing my life... I'll end there

Cassie - that's awesome to hear how God puts people into your path to speak to you about your plans. I'm always looking to hear how God is speaking. I believe he speaks through:

(1) His Word
(2) Prayer
(3) People
(4) Circumstances
(5) The Church

Keep listening...He is speaking!

God has changed my plans, but He has not changed my views of what I want to do in my life. When I was younger, I wanted to be an airline pilot because I loved flying and just being everywhere that pilots go. Even to this day, I still love to travel and have a huge desire to see and understand the worlds cultures. Now, after Christ saved me, I want to be a travel nurse that not only saves lives, but gets to travel and see a different part of God's world. God also showed me Missionary Nursing. Of all the possibilities God has givin me, the chance to travel the world and be His Light to the places where it is needed most is the most incredible. I know God is going to use me to help save the world, one person at a time.

I really like this verse. Just the other day, I was thinking about college and jobs and stuff like that. I don't know exactly what I want to do but I've changed my career choice so many times since 7th grade. In 7th grade I wanted to be an interior designer. When I looked up information for it though, I wouldn't be home a whole lot. I want to have a family and be a mom. So being an interior designer was out. In 8th grade, I wanted to be a cosmetologist. It would be a good part-time job so I could care for my family but it didn't pay a whole lot. Cosmetology was out. My freshman year I thought about being a fashion designer. But then as I found information for a report, I figured out they didn't pay much either. Through this whole time, I've been babysitting. I realized that God has given me the gift of being with kids. So I think I will be a teacher. But on Friday, we were at kings island for a christian music festival. That night Casting Crowns performed. The lead singer guy said that God led him to be a singer. He was a full time youth pastor and on the side he was a musician. I thought about this and thought 'if i found a band, i could do what he does. be a teacher during the week and stuff. then during summer, we could perform.' It might not turn out but I'll go wherever God wants me to go.
